Interestingly, I nike roshe run print sneakers almost passed on trying the Free 4.0 Flyknit. Several weeks ago I purchased the new 2014 model of the Nike Free 5.0. I hated it. It had a tight band around the forefoot that dug into my skin, and quite honestly it felt and looked a bit cheaply made. I wasn¡¯t impressed and it went back to the store unworn. However, I¡¯d heard from some fellow shoe geeks that the 4.0 was going to be the big winner among the 2014 Free models, so I spent the $100+ to buy a pair (MSRP is $120). This might be one of the few times where I feel that the relatively high cost might be justifiable ¨C I like the shoe that much.

I¡¯ll let Greg tell his story in his own words, but I¡¯ll add that if you want to read more about his running adventures, you can check out his blog, Predawn Runner.

Typical winter running conditions in New Hampshire this year. In addition to the fit, another thing I love about the Wildhorse is the fact that I can feel the zoom air unit in the heel. I first noticed this while walking and standing in the shoe ¨C you can nike roshe run woman black kind of bounce up and down on the air cushion. Unlike the Terra Kiger, however, there is no air unit in the forefoot. This gives the forefoot a firmer feel, particularly on harder surfaces. This is combo of a soft heel and firmer forefoot meets me preferences perfectly, though I¡¯d be lying if I said I¡¯m not tempted to try the Kiger out given my experience with the Wildhorse.

Outsole I¡¯ve already covered sole feel pretty well, but a few comments are warranted about the outsole. There is a lot of rubber under this shoe, and as a result I expect durability shoe be quite good. I¡¯d guess you will see the softish midsole start to break down before you eat through the rubber outsole. One thing I like about the outsole design is that there is a horizontal break that creates a flex groove between the midfoot and forefoot (between the yellow and black areas in the photo below), and another about midway forward on the forefoot. This gives the Peg fairly decent flexibility.

If you like a trail shoe with a low volume yet wide forefoot, lugs that can handle both road and trail miles, and a heel that is forgiving with a bit of bounce, the Wildhorse would be a great choice. I just signed up for a 10 mile trail race in May and the Wildhorse is likely the shoe I will wear on race day ¨C it has served me very well this winter and I expect that it will handle bare trails as well as, if not better than the snow and ice I have been subjecting it to.

Through maybe eight years total of cumulative running experience, and now seven marathons, I have actually never put much thought into my shoe selections. I¡¯ve been lucky to be eithe Nike Air Max Classic BW 91 Mens r blessed with mechanics that don¡¯t care about shoe characteristics or to stumble upon shoes that worked with my gait and foot strike. Oh sure, I¡¯d tried the wet-footprint approach to determine whether I needed neutral, control, or stability shoes and frankly found that I could make the answer whatever I wanted it to be. However, as I seek to up the intensity of my workouts in striving for a 3:00 Boston Marathon next year, I thought the time was right to finally let the experts weigh in. And, as wit cheap nike free run h any new experience, I learned some things in the process.
