Researchers from Harvard University Chan School of Public Health, United States, found that coffee has good benefits for the body be it caffeinated coffee or not. Risks for conditions such as heart disease, suicide, diabetes, and parkinsonism are reported to be reduced thanks to coffee.
The study published in the journal Circulation compares the health conditions of three groups of people who are not drinking coffee, drinking coffee a day less than two glasses, and drinking 3-5 glasses of coffee a day. The researchers did a comparison but did not see a direct link between coffee against disease because it has been proven by previous studies.
Data were collected from three large surveys involving 300,000 health workers over a 30-year period. The result that it is true the prevalence of some diseases is reduced and it looks more conspicuous in the group of people who regularly drink 3-5 glasses a day.
"There are active bio compounds in coffee that reduce insulin resistance and systemic inflammation, which may explain our findings but further studies are needed to determine the biological mechanisms of these effects," said a researcher from Ming Ding, as quoted by ABC Australia on Tuesday (11/17/2015).
But even so others warned that not everyone is fit to drink coffee. Pregnant women and children need to be wary of drinks that have high caffeine including coffee. Coffee illustrations
"Regular coffee consumption can be included as part of a healthy balanced diet," says Harvard nutrition and epidemiology professor Frank Hu.
"But certain populations, such as pregnant women and children should be careful about the high intake of caffeine from coffee or other beverages," he concluded.
